4th volunteer battalion East Surrey Regiment Helmet plate 1881 - 1901 Scarce die-stamped nickel crowned star, bearing laurel sprays and circlet inscribed “East Surrey 4th Volr. Battn.”; eight pointed star. Bearing the Arms of Guildford to voided centre.
The end of the bottom and the left hand ray are damaged.

This lovely plate has tested positive as silver, the numbers have been cut out with precision, the plate is in a stained condition and is complete with 2 lugs.
The plate worn by the 55th Regiment is a gilt pattern with a silver Dragon, so I am not sure who would have worn this plate.
