Ayrshire Yeomanry Victorian Officers Blue Cloth Helmet Plate
Victorian Officer’s Blue Cloth Helmet Plate – Ayrshire Yeomanry. A large and impressive silver back plate with a gilt centre motive with a green enamel backing, 104 mm high, an eight-pointed star pattern typical of the Victorian era. The central strap reads “Ayrshire Yeomanry” At the centre is a finely detailed image of St. Andrew with the saltire cross, representing Scotland. The reverse retains two original threaded studs for attachment.

Original other ranks helmet plate, in use since 1953 by troopers or NCOs of the Blues and Royals or the Life Guards, that combined to make up the Royal Horse Guards, until the pattern was changed with the queen's crown in 1953. The Albert helmet is the current ceremonial headgear of the British Army's Household Cavalry, it was introduced by Prince Albert in 1842 and adopted by the Household Cavalry the following year. In 1847 the helmet was introduced to all heavy cavalry regiments. This plate is in need of a clean.

Derbyshire Imperial Yeomanry helmet plate 1901 to 1908. This mounted infantry unit was used in the Boer War, the plate is stamped in gilding metal at 120 mm high and has 4 studs fixed to the back
